Happy 2 Year Anniverary of Referral Day!

It’s hard to believe that 2 years ago today, we received our referral for little Miss Emma. A friend of mine and I had been closely following referrals and the day before had found out that the “Silver Stork” was on its’ way. The part I wasn’t sure of was whether or not we would receive our referral. Sure enough, the phone rang that day with news from our adoption agency that we had a little sweet pea. In preparation for “the call”, I had carefully prepared a list of all the questions I was going to ask. Somehow I just could not get them all out, I was too overwhelmed and my eyes were too teary! I remember very little from the call, but I clearly remember the picture that Grace so happily emailed to me since we were not going to be able to go to Lexington until that afternoon. It’s funny the first thoughts you have, but mine were that I was just in awe of her, that she looked smart to me (something about that look in her eyes) and then the thought crossed my mind that I felt like she would be able to hold her own with her brother Ryan. How true those things have turned out to be!

How could I possibly describe her today? Emma is full of life, full of energy and just an absolute blessing to all of us. Nothing other than the hand of God could possibly have matched the perfect child for our family.

Some interesting things from the referral paperwork, and looking back we can see were so true then and are still hold true!

  • She walks steadily & fast

  • She uses her hands deftly

  • She can pick up small things.

  • She can catch the toy before her

  • She can stand on tiptoe to get the toys from above.

And the best ones

  • She shows strong preference

  • she has good appetite

  • She likes biscuits

Can I hear an Amen?

Happy 2 year anniversary of our Referral Day for you Emma. We love you sweetheart!

Basketball get together

Ryan's basketball coach had the team over on Sunday for dinner and an awards ceremony. They had two wonderful coaches who spent a lot of time with them and were not just coaches, but good role models for the kids too. They had a pretty good season even though they lost out in the consolation game. I think they only lost 3 games all season.

Happy Feet Dance

It was a busy, busy weekend for the Hunter clan. We had the AWANA car race on Saturday then left from there and drove to Lexington for the annual "Happy Feet Dance" held by our adoption agency. Emma LOVED the dance and loved dancing with her papa!

Check out Emma "dancing"! We got the biggest kick out of watching her!

Thought for the day ...

"Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again."- Og Mandino

Jump Rope for Heart

The Jump Rope for Heart event was held at Ryan's school on 2/23. Last year he was the top earner and had the opportunity to shave his coach's head! Apparently he was too frozen up to do it so his teacher jumped in and helped him. This year he raised $615 and was again the top earner, but was able to complete the shaving all by himself this time!

I finally did it ...

Okay, I've tried creating a website and soon lost interest. I've heard blogs are much easier so I'm giving this a try.
