Kitchen Time

One thing about Emma is that she has never really been a 'toy' child. Sure she's enjoyed some things here and there and does have a few favorite stuffed animals that she sleeps with. But all in all she prefers playing with "someone" instead of "something". Now Rebecca on the other hand LOVES all the toys and does a good job of playing with many different items.

Needless to say, that makes holiday & birthday time a little challenging for us. Lately she has shown an interest in helping me cook and I've found that one on one time in the kitchen with her so much fun and enjoy seeing her take it so seriously.

Knowing all of this, Santa brought Emma several kitchen things this year and her favorite by far has been this little smoothie maker. Girlfriend has been in smoothie heaven! We even took it out to a friends house one night & let the girls make smoothies to their hearts delight.

To make things even better, I ran into these cute little glasses in an antique store one day & knew they were the PERFECT thing for the girls and their smoothies. They're even using them for their orange juice too. I just loved the frilly/old timey look of them!

Fun times in the kitchen :-)

Oh I LOVE those little glasses for juice or smoothies...the bottom of the glass is so unique...I love it!

Lottie loves animals also but needs "big people" play and companionship all day long. Wears this Momma out. Emma could just play with her Barbies all day!

Thanks for validating my lack of television. When I moved three years ago, I threw everything I could into my car and drove down to Arizona. My TV didn't fit, so it didn't come and was never replaced. I haven't missed it one old bit. The few shows I do watch obsessively (30 Rock, Fringe, Modern Family . . .) can all be found online so I just wait until the next day. LUCKILY Ryan is the same way and so we're most likely never going to have a TV - or at least never have it hooked up to cable or anything. We love movies, so we will use it for that. So happy to hear you were in the same boat for a while!

Lauren sounds a lot like Emma. She loves her books and puzzles, but she's not as into toys as I was as a kid. She LOVES to help in the kitchen though. When I'm getting dinner ready, I always hear the noise of her pulling up her little chair behind me. She hops up wants to help, even if it's just pouring something into a pan. I can't wait until she's old enough for an Easy Bake Oven. She will be all over that!
