Miss Manners Goes to China?

I ran across this story today, thought it was pretty interesting. We didn't really run across some of these egregious behaviors, but had read about them before we traveled. However, I think what really strikes me about this story is more the concerted effort by the government to modify the behavior of the people. Not too long ago I had read a story about mandatory classes for cab drivers.
