We started off the day an hour earlier than we intended by somehow setting our clock back one hour. So instead of the planned 6 hours of sleep, we got 5. I think that puts me up to about 12 hours worth since Wednesday. To keep the jet lag at bay we have been on the go all day today & have had the best time seeing the sites and meeting most of the people from our travel group.
Our first trip of the day was to Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City. Emma was such a little trooper! I couldn't help but laugh because one gentleman in our group thinks Emma's just the cutest, etc and he has tried taking all kinds of pictures of her but she moves too much (hmm - imagine that) and he's had a hard time getting good shots. At one point I saw him trying to be discreet behind a sign and take her picture without her knowing it but she was well aware of his antics and was playing a game of cat and mouse with him. It was really funny to watch! I just can't imagine why someone would be so smitten with her :-)
After we left there we had a stroll through the olympic village and was able to see the Bird's Nest and the aquatic center. That was followed by a yummy lunch at the Friendship Store (a government based store) and then on to the Great Wall. There is a family in our group that lives fairly close to us & they have their 12 year old son with them and he & Ryan have been hanging out. They went really high up the wall!!! I'd post a picture but .... when I couldn't sleep the other night I moved my laptop over to another bag and it would appear that I didn't move the cable necessary to download the pictures. Sigh.
Well, bedtime for the Hunter family - hopefully we can get some much needed sleep tonight. After I gave Emma a bath, she crawled up next to Brian and was fast asleep in about 2.3 seconds. That's an all time record for Miz Wiggle Bones.

Oh, I know you must be tired. What an awesome experience for your whole family. Can't wait to check back in when you have Miss Rebecca! Loving following your journey.
OK Carolin, you must find that cord! No pictures, really! If my calculations are correct, in about 24 hours, you will have Rebecca! We are having more snow in the swamp, so enjoy the weather for us...

Carolin,
When you get to Xi'an, ask Amanda...there is a really nice mall up the road from her (convenietnly located near a Starbucks :)) and I bet they would have a place you get what you need. They may even have a cable at your hotel there. Good luck, and I hope you all get rest soon!
